What we know about 914114

* It spent many years in Southern California, a dry climate. It has deteriorated, but is restorable

* It is a prototype VW-Porsche 914 and has many pre-production features that are not on standard production 914’s

* Porsche internal project number label 914/11 at the front drivers side door jamb

* Several European market equipment features including prototype front turnsignal lenses and buckets, front driving lights, dash heater controls

* Federalized to USA DOT standards, likely at the time of importation. Laminated glass windshield, front sidemarker lights from an early Porsche 9xx car, USA rear turn signal lights lenses.

* Six cylinder engine is from a 1968 911T Porsche

* Originally a deep blue-violet exterior color, then fairly carefully repainted to a creamy yellow-orange color

* Previously damaged at the front drivers side corner and poorly repaired. Front sheet metal apron and drivers side headlight bucket pieces have been replaced with later production-style replacement pieces which do not exactly match the original sheet metalwork on the passengers side.

* Only known prototype six-cylinder 914.

What we speculate about 914114

* The Piech red flat-8 car is VIN 914111 and has internal number 914/10. 914114 has features similar to the Piech car, and not as developed as Ferrys Silver flat-8 car, which has VIN 914106. 914114 seems to have been built after the Piech 914 and before Ferrys 914.

* The history of the accident causing the front end damage, who repaired it and when.

* The person or company that did the USA federalization modifications to 914114

* When will it be restored and available to the public again
