My additions and comments |
914/6 prototype projects? |
914/6 GT projects? |
1. Auftragsnummer: English translation is 'contract number', or 'internal project number' |
2. Use of the terms 'Type', 'Auftragsnummer' and model are used interchangeably on this list (which relies on information from other sources). 'Type' means 'Model', as in Model 914, the official designation for the 914 Porsche is vehicle 'Type 47'. |
3. Gaps in the list include at least 39 Auftragnummers not described. From the adjacent known descriptions it seems probable that the earlier projects may have been 914/6 prototypes (24 projects shown in orange) for production car development, and Auftragsnummers 32-55 may have been 914/6 GT projects (16 projects shown in green) for racing purposes. |
4. Porsche assumed ownership of the 914 project from VW in May 1974 retroactive to January 1974, so Porsche project numbers would apply to any new development of the 914 after that date (and VW project numbers before that date). |
