Does your existing wiring harness look like this rats
nest?
Broken casing, deteriorated or missing boots, spliced
or cut off branches, melted, brittle or broken wires causing internal shorts?
You can be certain that the original wire terminals
are definitely dirty, corroded and worn out.
All of these conditions adversely affect the
electrical connectivity of a wiring harness.
No Connectivity, No Joy
Replacement
Porsche 914 Wiring Harnesses
The engine bay wiring harnesses in our Porsche 914
cars are vitally important components and are exposed to severe degradation and
contamination from heat, vibration, rain, oil and just ordinary handling. The
original wiring in our 914s is four decades old and new OEM wiring harnesses
are not available anymore. The unique original parts for harness repairs are
nearly impossible to find…you will not find them at your neighborhood hardware
store or even at the best German car parts stores. Used original wiring
harnesses can be found, but these original wiring harnesses, are also likely to
be at the end of their service life. Heat degradation and fluid contamination
cause the harness casing, protective rubber boots and wire insulation to
harden, crack and break off, eventually causing internal wiring harness shorts.
Vibration contributes to wire breakage at wire terminals and intermittent
contact. Dirt and corrosion at the wire terminal connections inhibit electrical
conductivity. ~40 years of disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors from
the engine simply wears the wiring harnesses and their connections out and
causes them to fail. With any of these conditions you could be sitting by the
side of the road instead of canyon carving. Installing carbs is not your only
option, and may not be the best solution either.
We rebuild repair and restore the critical engine bay
wiring harnesses for the Porsche 914. We make replacement wiring harnesses for
the harnesses that see the most abuse and deterioration because we want to do
our part to keep these great cars on the road for many years to come. Not
surprisingly, many customers have conveyed to us how these replacement
harnesses have cured long term, previously undiagnosed problems such as
intermittent stumbling, a bouncy tach, a faulty idle, lean/rich conditions, or
that replacing or repairing a harness was the actual solution to what was
thought to be a faulty fuel injector, bad pressure sensor, defective coil or an
electrical system charging problem.
Let us explain what we mean by ‘rebuilt’. We could
easily call these harnesses ‘new’ and mostly they are, except that certain
original hard plastic housings and other miscellaneous parts which are no
longer available new, and only where those items are perfectly serviceable, are
reused. Everything that can be replaced is new. New correctly color-coded wire,
new wire harness casing, new wire terminals, new rubber boots…you get the idea.
Our list of satisfied 914-owner customers is extensive, and these harnesses
have helped keep the factory fuel injection on many 914 cars.
The
research and development required to make these harnesses to the high quality
that they are is extensive, including rigorous in-service testing. They may
appear easy to make but do not be fooled into thinking you could do your own in
a few hours, they are much more difficult than they appear. Over four years in
development and testing, each FI harness takes most of a day to fabricate, even
with all the correct parts, special tooling and experience on hand. You receive
the benefit of all of these things at the lowest price possible and with quick
delivery. Our replacement harnesses are configured identically to the original
OEM factory wiring harnesses and are handcrafted to exacting standards using
new, OEM or better quality components, without being overbuilt. New high-count
multi-strand copper wiring with correct color coding and upsized wire gages is
used with new OEM wire terminals and durable new harness casing. Original,
serviceable, hard plastic parts are cleaned and reused because they are not
generally available new. Our wiring harnesses feature extra-durable, new rubber
boots (the finest-quality available), and casing reinforcements at critical
wire terminals and internally to the harness, for long-lasting durability.
Great care is taken in the workmanship of every harness, and each harness is
comprehensively bench-tested during fabrication and again at completion. Each
harness includes an electrical circuit diagnosis and installation diagram to
make the installation of each harness a simple task.
Unsolicited responses from customers we have received
since 2001:
“I received the harnesses to day. Absolutely incredible craftsmanship…I really
appreciate it. Thanks for the diagrams
as well.
I do some network cabling myself, so I really appreciate
clean, professional work. – Craig K, Georgia
“Have to say the harnesses look mighty fine…great job
and thanks for keeping the 914 alive!!” – Greg G, Massachusetts
“OMG!! We
received the harnesses and are extremely pleased with the engineering quality
and diligence!!”
“Jeff, you are
an artist and skilled practitioner!
Thank you for the time and effort!” – Darren C, Washington
“Jeff, I had to send you an email. The harness that
you built is of the finest quality and craftsmanship. I took it
out of the package and I could not stop staring at it.
Excellent in all aspects. Installing tonight!” – Steve T, Ohio
“Just installed the MPS.
YOU DID IT! It's FIXED!. Fired right up. idles great. revs quick. No flat spot
and no bucking…it is
definitely a 100% improvement. Thanks
again for your great service.” – Gary C, California
“Top Shelf work and well worth the money” – Steve C,
Missouri
“Beautiful work. The included literature is both clear
and useful” – Jim Thorusen, California
“Jeff, I just wanted to drop you a note to say the
harness you build for the 1973 1.7 that I am restoring is by far the best piece
of
craftsmanship that I have seen in some time. Although I think your harness far exceeds the
factories version, what I especially liked
are the dust boots.
The fit is tight, snug and creates a very good seal. Thanks again” - Hayward S, Washington
“It looks like it should be on the Space Shuttle” –
Steve S, California
“Jeff, You are a lifesaver! I had struggled with fuel injection issues for
a year and I was at my wits end about what I could do to rectify those issues.
Once I installed the new FI harness all those problems
went away and my 1.7L is back to being a car I love!
You provide a hugely valuable service for us that no
one else I know of does. Thank you for
that!” - Greg R, Colorado
“The build quality is excellent, the components are
superior, the appearance is great” – Brad Anders, Arizona
“Better than OEM Factory…solved
all of my problems” – Bob H, California
“You Rock..You Rock..You
Rock..!!!” – Rex L, Colorado
“I have received the
harnesses, thank you so very much for building it and assisting with the
shipping. The quality
and the workmanship of the
harnesses are flawless! I feel like
wrapping it in clear plastic
just to keep it looking that good!” –
Christopher G, South Africa
“Aloha Jeff,
I've gotta tell you, those aren't harnesses you sent, they're works of art. By
far, these are
the most
beautifully-prepared and restored harnesses I've ever seen. I wish I could have
received the
same quality of
workmanship for the harnesses I've installed in other vehicle restorations. I
can't wait to get these
installed, and
have the car back on the road. Many mahalos”
- Scott M, Hawaii
“I received the MPS
yesterday and have to tell you: My car has never ran nicer!
It started right up, no
stalling, and went on a small Christmas Eve road trip. I'm really psyched.
Great job and thanks
again!” - Ron W, New Jersey

Rebuilt MPS–Manifold Pressure
Sensor for stock 1.7L and 2.0L D-Jet 914 engines. Sorry, I do not offer MPS
calibrations for custom engine configurations including the 2056
engines. A custom calibrated MPS
requires custom tuning on a dyno or exhaust gas analyzer by a qualified
technician, to meet the requirements of a custom engine. Cleaned, rebuilt with a new
diaphragm and gaskets, calibrated and bench tested. |
0.280.100.037 |
1973 2.0L |
You will need to send me
your MPS to rebuild and calibrate, I do not inventory cores. MPS calibration notes: Rebuilt MPS are calibrated to the known
values of NOS MPS’s. These values are
verified to be generally accurate for the specified engines, but may not be
precisely correct for your engine, because your engine may not be in the same
state of tune, wear or condition as a factory new reference engine used to
determine the NOS MPS calibration values.
Consider that the MPS calibration provided is as close as possible,
but for optimum performance your engine/fuel injection system should be
evaluated on a dyno or exhaust gas analyzer and adjusted accordingly by a
qualified technician. So that the MPS
can be accessed easily for adjustment, the outer MPS stop receives only a
drop of clear nail polish to hold it in place and not a full epoxy seal. I do not offer MPS
calibration-only services for MPS’s that I have not also rebuilt. |
Cleaned and
rebuilt: $427. |
